Grumpy
Grumpy Bear frowns a lot
that's his way to show us how silly we look when we frown too much.
He also shows that it's okay to be grumpy sometimes.
But even when we're grumpy, we're still loved, and we're reminded of that by Grumpy Bear's symbol : a rain cloud with heart-shaped raindrops.

The Fast And The Furious Saturday
| Saturday, August 19, 2006

Meet up at Guan Yin Temple to pai pai. Lots of street performers. Some are pretty interesting. Many uncles and aunties are there singing their favourite songs when they are young. The KTV don't have their selection so they are out singing. Hmm.. I wonder when we grow old, will there be time where KTV will not have our Jacky Cheung or Leon Lai or Aaron Kwok or Andy Lau songs and we can get to sing them with our own VCD playing aloud on the amplifier? Perhaps you will see us at around Guan Yin Temple there singing the 80s songs. Hehe.. who knows :)

While waiting for dear, I stood next to the ice-cream stall in front of the temple, watching the world goes by around me. Life is really fast and furious. I see people rushing in and out of the temple. Wouldn't be in a spiritual place, you know down your pace to be in touch with the GODs? I see people hurriedly picking up joss sticks, bowing quickly. And one even stopped to pick up a call on his mobile phone. Is life really so furious that you can't miss the call just to spend time with your inner spiritual self with GODs? Perhaps this is a call of life and death. But we were once in a life without mobile calls, life goes on isn't it?

My dear came, and we both went into the temple. I tried to take my time to pick up joss sticks and lit it up. But everyone around me was rushing and rushing that I get jostled around. Gosh! If I don't act fast, I would have been trampled upon and will never get my joss stick lit up. Ok, not that I rush for my joss stick lit up on the oil lamp, I just waited patiently and find the oppotunity to slot in to have it quickly lit. Next, I need to find a space to pay my respects and pray. At the same time trying to steady myself on my feet from the jostling crowd. Somehow, I feel myself rushing through my prayers because of my surroundings. It's like a peer pressure, other people are in the rush and you just have to keep moving on so that others can get in quickly and pray too.. I admit, I rushed through my prayers too. And I'm sorry that I was kind of distracted by my surroundings. I hope to be better the next time.

Afterwhich, we hang around bugis, then slowly walk our way to The Cathay to collect tickets for the movie Tokyo drift. Hmm.. perhaps it's my birthday luck, won a $25 Adidas voucher. Next stop to Plaza Sing for dinner. Had craving for Korean Ramen. However, it turned out that the one at Plaza Sing foodcourt can't match with the one at Funan foodcourt. Well.. can't waste food right?

Next we take our time back to The Cathay. You must try their smoothie. It's delicious and real fruit taste. We had Cranberry. (It's pronouced as Cran-burry ok?) Yummy.

The movie is good and cool, see how the drivers drift. I feel it's much better than the Jay Chou's Initial D. Been to Tokyo myself, the scenes just bring back memories. One thing about Japan is though their life is also fast and furious, but they are very orderly. Singapore has lots to learn and grow.
